Northwestern softball won its weekend series over Wisconsin, nabbing the third and final game 4-3 with a walk-off home run Sunday.
The Wildcats took game one 11-3 in five innings, a game in which five NU players recorded at least two hits. In game two, the bats went quiet as the ’Cats fell 8-2. In the rubber match, Wisconsin led 3-0 going into the bottom of the seventh. Freshman infielder Kaylie Avvisato came to the plate with two runs scored and two outs. With one runner on she hit a high fly ball to left-center field that cleared the fence and the bases to win the game 4-3.
NU closes out the season against UCLA next weekend.
